This is a great route, more serious than the keyhole. I got a little lost above the slabs at 5:40 and was soloing on piles of loose rock. On the descent from the saddle I found the ramp heading down, but it's easy to miss on the way up.

Looks really exposed and scary. I would like it better without ice and snow.

Mount Hood is on my list of tallest state peaks to hike / climb. So far I have hiked the tallest peaks in Arizona, Idaho, Nevada, and Utah. None of those required mountaineering skills. Only one used microspikes. Mount Hood looks like a different animal. I will use a guide to help me get to the summit. Thanks for the video!

Drones are not allowed in the Presidential Range and for good reason. You clearly used a drone and therefore don't respect the rules or the experience others have on the trail.

Thanks. The wife and I went to try it last weekend and it got closed due to rain. I can see why now. Also hadn't realized some of the difficulty levels. Need to try the downstream before we tackle this. As an aside, also be aware of the altitude. The day before we went I was getting dizzy. Took me a full day and my energy output was still low. Think next time I may even take 2. Thanks and be safe out there

I’m attempting my first 14er next week - Mount Elbert to knock off the Colorado High Point. I’ve done Humphrey’s Peak in AZ & Wheeler Peak in NM so I’m both nervous & excited for Elbert. I’ve heard it’s a grind. Keep up the excellent work on your channel 🤙🏼

Great video! I did Pikes Peak last July and I am planning to do Mt Bierstadt in August. It will be my 2nd 14'er. If you have also done Pikes Peak how would you compare the 2 in terms of difficulty?

I took my son to Colorado to do our first 14er. Mount Elbert nonetheless......as a 48 YO in great shape I can say that I underestimated the hike up to top.....oh boy I got dizzy around 13000 feet of altitude, and my breathing was, well, very difficult to catch my breath. we are going back this year, but definitely, we are using your video and info to do the easiest traverse of them all.

Just did La Plata yesterday, had to come revisit this video because I vastly underestimated its difficulty, i personally found it to be harder than Elbert and even Longs simply because of how steep it is

Hey, while your in creede, Ivy Creek & Lime Creek near spar city in the weminuche and wheeler are must do hikes. Trout Creek in south fork is absolutely beautiful but motorcycles are allowed Natural Arch in penitente / the 2 mile penitente loop is awesome. (Del Norte) Middle Frisco to Bennett Peak is dope! That’s a non-motorized trail (Del Norte)

I’m from KY and about 2 weeks ago I started planning to hike Pikes via the barr. Your videos helped give me packing ideas as well was what to expect on mountain trails. I finished yesterday at 11:24am with about 7hrs hike time. Thanks for the videos bro.

The drive up to the 12,000 ft parking is a nightmare. This guy downplayed it big time. I can’t believe we made it up and back down without getting a flat tire in our Outlander. Some girls we passed by on the way back down were not so lucky. Your tires will be all over large loose rocks with dips, all the way up and down. Driving on the moon would be safer, as I needed a chiropractic adjustment afterwards. Avoid this one at all costs, unless it is an absolute MUST to complete. It’s not worth your vehicle wear and tear. You have been warned.

An interesting fact about the water in the Rampart Reservoir is that it comes from the Colorado River Headwaters 160 miles away, other than the snow and occasional rain. The Rainbow Gulch is the water coming in from the underground pipeline. You aren't supposed to swim in the water as it's water for the people and agriculture of Colorado Springs (mostly). The water is piped from Twin Lakes near Buena Vista.
